Microsoft to unbundle IE from Windows: EU
By Sam PascuaThe European Commission says Microsoft has agreed to open up Windows to different web browsers in order to fend off European Union litigation.
“Microsoft has proposed a consumer ballot screen as a solution to the pending antitrust case about the tying of Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser with Windows,” the commission said in a statement.
It said computer users would be able to “easily install competing web browsers, set one of those browsers as a default, and disable Internet Explorer” from the ballot screen.

By Sam PascuaMozilla will release the next major version of Firefox on Tuesday, June 30, Webmonkey has learned. Mozilla confirmed the news Friday afternoon.
The company previously made a promise that it would make the browser available for download “by the end of June” this year. Since next Tuesday falls on the last day of the month, Mozilla is sticking to its word — just barely.
